Thousands of dogs and cats live in animal shelters.

Some of them manage to find a loving family rather quickly, while other four-legged “guests” have been waiting for their future owners for a long time.

Although shelter workers usually do their best to comfort their temporary pets, it happens that the conditions are far from perfect.

It so happened that one of the English dog shelters turned to kind-hearted people with a request for help.

On their Facebook page, employees of the institution posted the following announcement:

“We encourage all kind-hearted people who know how to handle yarn and knitting needles to donate sweaters for dogs who are cold and especially lonely during the Christmas holidays.”

The announcement attracted attention, with 89-year-old Maisie Green among those who responded.

The woman enthusiastically got down to business and soon the shelter dogs could already enjoy the result of her work.

“I love knitting and I love dogs, so this is a perfect combination of both my passions!”

The cheerful lady declared.

Macy started helping the orphanage on a regular basis.

Over the course of three years, the dogs received more than 450 blankets and a huge number of sweaters from her. Talking about her work, the woman said:

“It takes me three days to knit a blanket and one day to knit a dog sweater. It keeps me busy and I often like to knit while watching TV. I am glad that I am helping the four-legged residents of the shelter. ”

The shelter staff are very grateful to Maisie for her help.

After all, thanks to the donations of a kind woman, dogs are no longer afraid of the onset of cold weather.

Warm sweaters and blankets give four-legged pets comfort and coziness.
