These are the days: Our 5th Anniversary

by nomeatbarefeet

Dear Katie,

Happy 5th Anniversary!

It could take forever to choose photographs from the past 5 years, but I thought a few would suffice to share where we have come. One can never imagine where such a partnership and a friendship can take them, and so it has been with ours. We have gone places and accomplished tasks that we did not dream of when we got married, nor even when we first meet. There is no doubt so much more is to come. Thank you Crepa Pequeña, for making these last 5 years a true blessing and an adventure.

2007

The Honeymoon in Ireland
Liverpool. Irish pub. 200 screaming Scousers. What a night.

2008

Ok, we love to kid around. Especially when we are around certain Tupper Lakers…
We started collecting our Aunt and Uncle badges.
Oh yeah, and remember when we almost died? Worst. Night. Ever.

2009

We moved to Middlesex to live with Maida. Good times in the Finger Lakes.
I love taking photos. Usually of others.
Lake Placid

2010

I think this was a monumental year because we gave a home to our little furry friend, Arlo.
Nothing to add.
Tried Tofurkey…eh, sort of like small, off color football.

2011

Turns out our little guy loves the trails too.
When your bestie moves to Colorado that is where you go.
Though not normally found at the beach we sometimes venture there…especially for horseshoes and bocce.
This was the year that we really began to understand ourselves as runners: both individually and as a couple. I really feel that this, probably more than anything else, has made us all that much closer as friends and as a couple.

2012

Welcome to Vermont. We’ve run in some really, really cold weather since moving here.
We’ve taken some fun trips back to Albany with Lil’ A.
We’ve also gotten adventurous with our cooking and baking…

We are always trying something different, trying to have fun, trying to enjoy ourselves. That is what I love about us together, and individually. The past 5 years have been filled with so much joy and adventure that I cannot wait to see where we go from here.

I want to end with lyrics by that great musical poet, Van Morrison:

These are the days now that we must savour
And we must enjoy as we can
These are the days that will last forever
and you’ve got to hold them, in your heart
