Living Deliberately Project – Week 6
This week constituted a first: I (Jon) would like to take this time to admit that I made the mistake of purchasing outside the restrictions of the LDP. It was a small purchase ($2), and it benefited a fellow runner and blogger, but it was nevertheless an unnecessary purchase. Now, in the grand scheme I probably shouldn’t be too hard on myself. The LDP is not about perfection—I know that I will fall short, and the real goal is the journey of trying to live as deliberately and consciously as possible. However, this purchase put our expenditures at $22 this week. Slightly over…:-/ That sill leaves us with $58 for the rest of the month. Still on track.
I know that this journey is for us. We are not out to prove anything to anyone but ourselves. Yet this is a blog. As cathartic as the writing process is, I still feel an attachment with those who read and follow it. As such, I feel like I need to be honest and open about when I fall short. There is that…
ok, I (Katie) will also confess, my crystal deodorant did not hold up at school, and I cannot do my job effectively when I feel like I stink. That being said, I did buy a $3 deodorant/antiperspirant to use for athletic activity and work. I am not supposed to (LDP rules) have two of anything, but in this case I can say that both will be used. I will still use the Thai Crystal when I am at home. I do feel it works for low stress situations (I will do a review at some point), but I just felt awful at work, and with 17 kids to look out for, who needs that?? So there you go… more honesty.
Now that that is out of the way, the rest of the week proved to be pretty easy. The weather has been iffy, which means that it has been freezing cold, blizzard-like snow, and crazy windy. And in the midst of that Katie and I turned to a sweet, sweet celebration that just has to put a smile on anyone’s face: Mardi Gras! Ok, so Fat Tuesday is not until next week, but we wanted to do it right, eat good, and relax together. With that in mind, look out for our slightly different Recipe Sunday post tomorrow…it should be delicious.
