Marvel is looking forward to commencing production on Daredevil: Born Again following an 8-month-long hiatus.
The show paused filming in May, and production stayed in a vegetative state for quite some time due to the combined effects of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike.
Following a creative overhaul, Dario Scardapane, known for his role as a writer on Netflix’s The Punisher, was appointed as the showrunner for Born Again.
The Hollywood Reporter has now confirmed that Marvel Studios will restart production on Daredevil: Born Again on Monday, 22nd January.
Sometime after the overhaul, Daredevil stunt coordinator Philip Silvera was hired as stunt coordinator and second unit director for Born Again.
The first season of Daredevil: Born Again will also no longer be 18 episodes long, with Marvel considering other options.
Vincent D’onofrio, in the wake of his portrayal of Kingpin in Echo, revealed details regarding the filming status of Daredevil: Born Again.
He said: “We’re days away from restarting Daredevil, so that’s what we’re about to plunge into a lot of work. We’re shooting in New York, in the studio and on locations here. Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Chelsea. Stuff like that.”
He also affirmed that the number of episodes “keeps fluctuating”, and that he doesn’t really have an idea what the final number will be.
“The amount of episodes keeps fluctuating, so I don’t really know the number that we’re at right now. But it seems like there are a few shows that could work with more episodes, then some that just need eight or 10 or six. Echo is like five,” he told ComicBook.
He noted that fans will have to wait for an official announcement for final confirmation.
He said: “I think this show could definitely work with more episodes, and I know that Charlie is, and I am too, happy to do that. But the number keeps fluctuating.”
