Deadpool 3 Director Shares Heartwarming Set Photos With Ryan Reynolds & Hugh Jackman

Posting to his Instagram page, Levy shared two photos of himself warmly embracing Reynolds and Jackman during their time together on set with the caption reading, “Started with friendship. Ended with brotherhood.” The photos were released on Jan. 26, two days after principal photography on the Phase Five Marvel Cinematic Universe film officially wrapped after initially starting last May and suffering delays due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

For Levy, Deadpool 3 is the latest film he’s worked on with Reynolds, having previously collaborated with him on Free Guy and The Adam Project, with the two also set to reunite for an upcoming comedy movie. Levy also has a history with Jackman dating back to their time working together on 2011’s Real Steel, which he directed and co-produced for DreamWorks Pictures.

While little is known about Deadpool 3, several set photos that emerged during filming seem to point to key MCU connections and canonical events the upcoming threequel will reference. Last December, pictures were leaked showing links to Loki and the planned Fantastic Four reboot, leaks Reynolds condemned in a statement. Meanwhile, Reynolds recently released a set photo seemingly pointing to a potential rehash of a major scene from Logan, the last film to feature Wolverine before Jackman retired from portraying the character.

A rumored synopsis for the movie states, “After facing some professional setbacks while going through a midlife crisis, Wade Wilson decides to officially retire Deadpool and becomes a used car salesman. But when his friends, family, and the whole world are at stake, Deadpool decides to bring his katanas out of retirement. He recruits an unwilling and wary Wolverine to not only fight for their survival but, ultimately, their legacy.”

Also starring Morena Baccarin, Jennifer Garner, Karan Soni and Brianna Hildebrand, Deadpool 3 will feature several surprise celebrity cameos Levy said he was “lucky” to land. Among those rumored cameos, which Levy has neither confirmed nor denied, include Taylor Swift (Dazzler), Halle Berry (Storm) and Taron Egerton (a Wolverine variant). The Deadpool threequel will be the only MCU film released this year following a raft of scheduling changes due to the strikes.

Fans may soon know what the official title for Deadpool 3 will be considering Marvel is officially calling it Untitled Deadpool Movie for marketing purposes. Additionally, Deadpool 3 will reportedly debut its first official trailer during Super Bowl LVIII on Feb. 11 to build up anticipation.
