Update: SAG-AFTRA has since removed the cast and production information regarding Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four from the below-mentioned listing.
The Last of Us and The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal is officially set to begin production “soon” on the highly anticipated reboot of Fantastic Four.
As per a listing for a “CAREER RETROSPECTIVE” with Pascal, the SAG-AFTRA Foundation noted that he will indeed be starring in Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four movie that’s set to release in 2025.
It was reported last year that he had been tapped to play the team’s stretchy hero, Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic.
SAG-AFTRA said, confirming the casting: “Pascal recently wrapped production on Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated Gladiator 2 and will soon begin production on Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four.”
Although an announcement has yet to be released by Disney and/or Marvel Studios, this new update could be the first of many concrete confirmations from both Pascal and the studio to be headed our way.
Pascal’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will tie in nicely with the current “Multiversal Saga” that’s all building up to the next major Avengers movies, the main “endgame”-like instalment being Secret Wars.
If Pascal is playing Reed Richards, it should be safe for fans to assume that he’ll be a major player in either one or both of the upcoming Avengers sequels – as he will be leading the Fantastic Four to battle alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Although the team consists of four members, it appears that only Pascal has been confirmed so far – however, there have been a swarm of reports this past year as to who else fans could end up seeing join the Mandalorian star.
Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn, for one, has been heavily rumoured to be playing Johnny Storm aka Marvel’s iconic hero, The Human Torch.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’s Vanessa Kirby has also been rumoured to be playing Johnny Storm’s sister, Susan aka The Invisible Woman.
Fantastic Four is currently scheduled to release on May 2nd, 2025.
