The MCU’s Red Hulk Theories Just Got Way More Likely

Following a new reveal, the theories that Red Hulk is in Captain America: Brave New World have become more likely. Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers was the first Captain America of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, leading three good-to-fantastic Captain America movies and appearing in at least one MCU movie every year from his debut in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger to 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. The latest Avengers movie saw Rogers grow old and pass his shield onto Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson.

Sam graduated from the Falcon to the MCU’s new Captain America in Disney+’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Now the MCU’s new Sentinel of Liberty, Mackie’s Sam Wilson will be leading Captain America: Brave New World’s cast, marking his first solo film. Captain America: Brave New World’s story gives a prominent role to Harrison Ford’s Thunderbolt Ross — the actor replaced the late William Hurt in the role. Ross has been rumored to become Red Hulk, as he does in the comics, in the movie, and it now seems like that transformation is all but confirmed.

@TheTowersOracle shared on Twitter a look at the Captain America: Brave New World crew jacket. The filming wrap gift for the MCU movie’s crew seemingly confirms that Ford will become Red Hulk in the movie, as the character’s hand can be seen grabbing Captain America’s shield.

While Ford has been rumored to portray Red Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World for some time, the crew jacket is direct confirmation that the character will indeed play a role in the upcoming MCU movie.

Ford’s Thunderbolt Ross becoming Red Hulk had already been teased before by those involved with the movie. The reveal of Ford’s pants in a Captain America: Brave New World set photo fueled Red Hulk speculation. In the set photo shared by Mackie, Ford is wearing ripped pants that look remarkably similar to what Bruce Banner’s look like after he transforms back from the Hulk into human form. While Ford previously pretended like he did not know about the rumor, saying, “What is the Red Hulk?,” it seems like Ross’ alter ego will be in the movie.

Captain America: Brave New World will finally see Tim Blake Nelson’s full debut as The Leader, with the villain having been set up in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. Given how She-Hulk: Attorney at Law dealt with the danger that lies in the Hulk’s blood and characters trying to get their hands on it, The Leader’s plans could follow a similar direction. Ford’s Ross could inject the Hulk’s blood into his veins to stop The Leader and/or save his daughter, Betty Ross. Red Hulk and Sam Wilson could also be both allies and enemies throughout Captain America: Brave New World.
