Speaking with Entertainment Weekly about her new movie, Love Lies Bleeding, the actor was asked about her experience playing Jentorra in Quantumania. “Yeah, that was absolutely chaotic,” she recalled with a laugh. “I think we were getting new pages until the last day, and I think I was getting new fights the last day. I just show up, and they’re like, here’s a new fight.” However, she stressed that her co-workers were nothing but “lovely,” adding, “I thought me being this kind of like newbie, they might, I don’t know, either ignore me or I would just feel out of place, but they just always made it as welcoming as possible. I was surprised by that environment.”

Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania opened in theaters on Feb. 17, 2023. Set roughly two years after the events of 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, the Marvel sequel followed Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne/The Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) as they are accidentally sucked into the Quantum Realm with Hope’s parents Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton). Searching for a way home, the pint-sized heroes embark on an adventure that will push them beyond their limits and pit them against Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors).

Despite a strong opening weekend of $106 million domestically, the superhero threequel faltered in subsequent weeks, suffering a massive 69.7 percent drop between its first and second weekends. Quantumania ultimately finished its theatrical run with a global gross of $476 million, which was unfortunately not enough to save it from becoming the first post-pandemic MCU film to lose money at the box office.

Marvel Studios’ box office struggles were momentarily lifted during the summer thanks to James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but then took another hit in November with the release of The Marvels. The Brie Larson-led sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel bombed at the box office, grossing just $206 million worldwide against a reported budget of $274.8 million. The Marvels is currently the lowest-grossing installment in the MCU.

Is Ant-Man 4 Happening?
Ahead of Quantumania’s release, it was revealed that Marvel Studios was already in the early stages of planning Ant-Man and the Wasp’s next big-screen adventure. “We’re already thinking about it [Ant-Man 4],” admitted producer Stephen Broussard in February 2023. “Those conversations, those whispers have already started to happen between myself and [Ant-Man series director] Peyton and [Marvel Studios president] Kevin [Feige].”

However, after Quantumania underperformed, there have been no further whispers about a fourth Ant-Man movie. At the time of writing, the only MCU sequels officially in the works at Marvel are Deadpool & Wolverine, Captain America: Brave New World, Avengers 5, and Avengers: Secret Wars, with the Disney+ series Agatha: Darkhold Diaries and Daredevil: Born Again serving as spiritual sequels to WandaVision and Netflix’s Daredevil, respectively.
